Dr. Teri Sue Wright,

Founder & Owner

Dr. Teri Sue’s lifelong passion for animals began in her childhood in New Jersey, where she watched her mother rescue wild animals and care for a variety of pets. Her love of horses grew through her school years, leading her to train and compete in three-day eventing. This passion took her to a private college in Virginia, where she studied horsemanship and business, before transferring to Old Dominion University to complete her biology degree in 1991.

Her professional journey began at a veterinary hospital in South Carolina. Seeing a need in her community, she established a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation organization, a project that inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine. After moving to Oregon in 1995, she worked at the Corvallis Humane Society for over two years before attending Oregon State University, where she earned her DVM in 2001.

While working in a conventional clinic, Dr. Wright began questioning traditional approaches to health care, realizing that preventing disease and sustaining wellness required deeper understanding. After leaving her clinic in 2005 to care for her newborn son with special needs, she explored nutrition, integrative medicine, and holistic therapies. The results transformed both her health and her son’s development and shaped her approach to veterinary practice.

Today, Dr. Teri Sue continues studying nutrition, herbal medicine, and holistic modalities. She provides in-home care and is expanding her clinic to include radiology, surgery, and dentistry. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, cooking nutrient-dense meals, traveling with her life partner, spending time with her kids, and hiking in the woods as much as possible with her rescue chihuahua-mix, Pixie, and her golden retriever, Astin.

Ryann Haworth, BA, RMT,

CEO

Ryann’s passion for animals and holistic living began in childhood, surrounded by pets and horses. For years,  her family bred and showed Chinese Shar-Peis, believing in early training to set pets and families up for success.

Her own digestive health challenges as a teenager led her to study the connection between diet, emotional balance, and overall wellness. Ryann earned her BA in Psychology in 2006, founded Not For Dogs Only (a grain-free, organic dog treat company), and became a certified Reiki Master Teacher in 2008, establishing her healing practice, Lovelight Reiki.

With over 20 years of administrative experience, including 15 in management, Ryann joined Balance Veterinary Care in 2019. She brings leadership, mindfulness, and a passion for helping others grow both personally and professionally.

Beyond work, Ryann teaches holistic health, volunteers at her son’s school, and enjoys mindfulness, yoga, gardening, singing, and spending time outdoors with her family and their dog, Kaya Rose.

Carley Eggleston

Veterinary Assistant

Carley’s love for animals began in childhood, exploring nature and befriending every creature she found. Her volunteer work at a local Humane Society inspired her to pursue veterinary assistance after two years as a Kennel Tech.

Her interest in holistic care began when her Bulldog developed severe skin allergies unresponsive to traditional treatments. Her research into nutrition and alternative medicine eventually led her to Balance Veterinary Care, where she found her professional and personal path aligned.

Outside of work, Carley enjoys gardening, hiking, reading, and spending time outdoors with her cats.

Gabrielle (Gabbie) Bird

Veterinary Assistant

A University of Oregon graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, Gabbie’s dedication to sustainability and holistic care led her from farm and nonprofit work—including time with Fair Valley Farm and Beyond Toxics—to Balance Veterinary Care.

Her love for animals runs deep, shaped by years spent with dogs, cats, horses, and even a turtle named Spud. After seeing the positive transformation in her own dog through holistic care, she joined the Balance team in 2021, uniting her passion for the environment, community, and animal wellness. She is our remote VA working from her new home in North Carolina, where she was just  accepted to the NC State veterinary program.  Outside of work, she enjoys time with her partner, her dog Maggie, and connecting with nature and friends.
